Alice Springs – 3ks West of Rabbit Flat Day 9

Saturday 11th August

When we left Alice at 7:30 in the morning it was -2deg so it was very cold which made it hard to pack up the camper.

We turned off to the Tanami Road at about 7:50am ready for our long drive.

We arrived at Tilmouth about 9:30am filled up with fuel and it was so windy and cold we decided to buy  a cup of tea from the servo which was very nice as we go to have it inside out of the cold and even watched a bit of TV.

Kerry purchased a painting from the locals and it was very nice.

It is now 10:30 and back on the road as we were not sure of the conditions.  There seemed to be a lot more tar this time as it has been 3 years since we travelled this road and things change.

Even the dirt road did not seem that bad.  The boy let air out of the tyres so that made a big difference to our ride.

Now it is 12:00pm Kerry & Neville found a spot for lunch which was the turnoff to Vaughan Springs, so there for as long as it takes to make a sandwich and back in the car.

Now it was starting to get a bit uncomfortable in the car so it must be time to find a camp site as it was 4:00pm and Paul knew there was a camp site 3ks from Rabbit Flat and in off the road about 1k and it was just fine for us.

Easy tea tonight then we gathered some fire wood and had a lovely fire to pass the time before bed
