Bedourie – Arthur River Day 4

Monday 6th August

At 7:30am the girls walked down the main street from the park to the servo as the boys were filling up the cars.

Not far out of town was a look out so we made our way up to the top to have a look great spot very cold though wind was blowing a gale, The lookout overlooked Marion Downs Station and was opened in April this year.

We are now in Boulia and we decided to get more fuel as we had the Plenty to tackle and was not sure on the condition of the road.  We had a look in the visitor centre did not stay long as we had another long day and we had to get moving.

Now it was 10:50am and we were just pulling onto the Plenty Hwy it is bitcheam for quite awhile now.  We stopped for a quick cuppa as it was now 11:15 and we thought it was time for a break.

Lunch was a quick stop at 1:25pm as we had to pull off to the side of the road not a lot of places to stop.

The dust was hanging around as there was not a lot of wind; we made it to the QLD/NT border now.  It was very busy on the Plenty today as a lot of cars coming from Alice to Boulia.

As it was getting late in the day and we now knew we were not going to make it to Jervois for the night and we were all sick of the car we had to find somewhere to camp for the night.  Looked up the camp 6 book and found Arthur River (free camp).  Pulled in there about 4:00pm NT time and what a great spot this was no water in the river much to Pete’s amazement.  The boys went a collected the fire wood and the girls got the dinner ready (sound familiar).

We all had something easy for dinner and sat around the fire listening to Pete’s stories and had a good time waiting until it was late enough to go to bed as we gained 1/2hr today crossing he NT border.
