Quilpie – Bedourie Day 3

Sunday 5th August

We left the caravan park at 7:30am drove into town to get some fuel had a chat to the guy there and told us we had 8hrs to Bedourie.

There is a variety of animals on the side of the road today Horses, Kangaroos, Emus, pigs and even feral cats simply amazing you would see them all the way out here were no houses insight. 1 Emu and lots of dead Kangaroo’s again today.
It is like pit street today (Sunday) on the road who would imagine that, lost of road trains coming from the other way and when they are near you just get off the single lane road or your gone.  They don’t slow down either and they are full of cattle.

Windorah Solar
Went past Coopers Creek free camping here and it looked good to lots of campers there beside the river.

Now we are in Windorah and they have a big solar farm for the town which is just as you come in. It is time to stop for a toilet break so we went into the caravan park not sure if that is allowed but we did as Paul does not stop unless I make a bit of a fuss.

Out of town we had morning tea (Paul was looking for a creek which he would never find too many out here).
Stopped at the native well which are the side of the road the first one did not have any water in it but there was another not far from the first one and it had water.

Stopped at the Native wells.

Next stop was the spot to see the hole in the rock, except this time the hole was not very big Paul thinks it might have caved in a little from the last time we saw it which was 3 years.

Not far from that we passed the 1st turnoff to Birdsville then we hit the dirt road for awhile then black top, then dirt.
It was getting close to stop for lunch and we were looking for a good spot under some trees which it is hard to find out here.  Around a bend in the road I saw the tops of 2 caravans and as we travelled pas I looked around and saw that they had a spot near a small billabong so that was the lunch spot as it was now 1:30pm lunch is on.   You would not think you would see this out here in the middle of nowhere.
Lunch break

Passed the 2nd turnoff to Diamantina N.P. and there was roadwork’s and the road a bit slippery.

We went to the visitors centre after arriving in Bedourie at 4:00pm.  After filling in the paper work we decided to stay at the council park close to the artesian spa and managed to get in on someone else’s key after filling in the paper work.
